  • great looker!

I traded in my Pontiac Aztek for this sexier looking vehicle. I totally miss all the room I had in the Aztek, but this car gave me what I set out for -- better gas mileage, good performance and great styling! I must say, I miss a 6 cylinder, but for the savings in gas, I can put up with the 4. It performs quite well actually. A little nosier than a 6, but overall a great vehicle
  • Reliable and good looking SUV

I purchased this car used with about 60,000 miles on it and the previous owner took good care of the car before I got it. He didn't have any major issues. Shortly after I got it, the transmission had to be rebuilt but this was covered under the warranty and I haven't had ANY problems since. Might just be a fluke. I have now had this car and I drive it hard (60 miles a day in Houston traffic) and it holds up well. Only reason I gave mine 4 star performance is because I have a V4 engine and it doesn't have enough "Giddy up" for me. Find a V6 if possible. Even though it's an older model, I am still proud to show off my car to friends because it's a stylish vehicle and a comfortable ride. Would be a great starter car.
  • Recalls, faulty steering column not covered

There are so many recalls that Ford has recognized but there are so many more problems that they won’t. The steering column has many problems with It failing but they won’t cover it on recalls or recognize the problem. I had to replace my gas tank for a leak recall. There are problem with shocks and leaking oil from them. Ford of course doesn’t want to replace their faulty vehicle, you will be left cleaning up their mistakes with your hard earned money. The dealerships know about the problems also and Ford will not help with most of them. Power steering fails. Rusts about the rear wheels in the majority of the other Mariners I have seen, Same spot. I have trouble with all of the steering in my car. I believe it has to do with the fact that the vehicle can barely be aligned correctly because of the way it was made. More of a headache than anything. I’m assuming that’s why they stopped making them.
